For you Hoosierbro. No one ever dedicates posts to me, I was so flattered. How can you be so sweet and so difficult at the same time? We need you in San Antonio, Texas on June 27th. Stop your slacking and get your priorities aligned with your blown-eyed blodge family. Today.

Now, for you my blogbro, lyrics that speak volumes. Can you (anyone) recognize any of em?

1. My girl says I’m too sensitive to run with you,
But I’m not listening to her.
You’re so perceptive, so when I’m done with you,
You’ll wish your head back the way you were.
As you were…
~Hoosier Daughter – Amy Winehouse, Frank, Know you now
[audio:know-you-now.mp3]

2. I can’t seem to find the answers,
And the questions, they’re stacking up high
I can’t seem to shake this situation,
Somehow I can’t find the strength to try
And after my nineteenth nervous break down,
After I have no more tears to cry
That’s when I figure things won’t get much worse or better..
~ The Weary Boys, Jumping Jolie, Bet my life on the losin’ side [audio:11-weary-boys-bet-my-life-on-the-losin-side.mp3]

3. Yeah, more drinks…this love stinks.
It hurts, it aches, it makes you cry.
It’s insane in the membrane,
The thing that kills won’t let you die
But, Man, it sure does try.
~
Do we really have to fight?
You know I’m wrong, and yeah, you’re right
I can’t say the reasons why, just because your stuff is fly
We’re not lonely when we’re free, you just turn and walk away
And you won’t have to hear me when I say… ~Supersuckers, Motherfuckers Be Trippin’, A good night for my drinkin’
[audio:supersuckers-a-good-night-for-my-drinkin.mp3]

4. It isn’t like the dream is dead, but it ain’t feeling very well
Let’s prop it up in the corner and hope that no one can tell
Suck it up one time, you going to suck it up twice.
Strap it up, baby, and step into the light
Someday the Saturday sun will shine,
Another chance to get it right
Another chance to get it right
~Jon Dee Graham, The Great Battle, Something to look forward to
[audio:09-track-9.mp3]

5. I didn’t know what I was looking for,
so I, didn’t know what I would find
Didn’t know what I was missing,
I guess you’ve been just a little too kind
And if I find just what I need,
Put a little peace in my mind.
Maybe you’ve been looking too?
Maybe you don’t even need to try?
~Hoosier Daughter – Jack Johnson, Curious George Sountrack, Broken
troubled upload, no tunage,sorries!

BONUS:
A little boy sat down and cried
An old man passing asked him why
He said I cant do what the big boys do
Old man sat down and he cried, too

Aint me, its the people that say
The men are leading the women astray
But I say, its the women today
Are smarter than the man in every way~ Robert Palmer

Nah, I can’t do a regular feature. I just thought with imitation being the sincerest form of flattery, I would throw some lyric love back your way. Say I’ll see you soon? Pretty please?

Ok, you have proven one thing for sure, this game is much easier when you know the answers. I think numero uno is an Amy Whinehouse song, only ’cause my daughter says so. I would not know, because it was recorded after say 1986. The rest, I haven’t a clue. I can only guess maybe they are either country songs, or angry chick music. I do not listen to either (except maybe Hank Jr ).

She says number five is Jack Johnson (?) whom she is going to see this summer. My eldest gets maybe two points, me a failure again…

“How can you be so sweet and so difficult at the same time? ” Man, if I had a buck for everytime that sentiment has been used to describe me I would be a very rich man.

  2. SuperGurl says:

your daughter is correct on one and five.

the bonus i saw live in 1989, and i’m pretty sure it was already an old tune at that time.
all the others i think i have posted on my blog at one time or another. didn’t really expect anyone to get them.

    come to texas!

  3. Paul says:

Wow. You posted a Grateful Dead video. Right on. RIP Garcia. Long live Mickey Hart.

And of course you had to post “Man Smart, Woman Smarter.” Supergurl is woman. Hear her roar! :)

  4. Paul says:

OK my last comment was cheesy but the Grateful Dead post was cool. I can’t figure out the rest of those lyrics either. I thought that one of them was the “19th Nervous Breakdown” by the Rolling Stones but nope.

  5. supergurl says:

yep, paul. supergurl had to comb out her knappy dreads and get a real job eventually. since hoosierbro detests hippies, i thought the dead song was perfect. plus, this was the exact tour i saw, only in Houston in oct 88.

dude. Isn’t that you tube sweet footage tho? dang, they did rock the house, had a little flashback watching that.

I’ll post the other tunes soon…so you can hear em.

  6. Paul says:

That Supersuckers kicks ass! In fact, that whole “Motherfuckers be Trippin’” album fucking rocks. I totally forgot about those dudes, and I’m going to go find some of their stuff online right now. Thanks, Supergurl!

Supersuckers are originally from Arizona, but they actually got going up here in Seattle during the 1990s, recording several albums including “Must’ve been High” on Seattle’s infamous Sub Pop Records before forming their own label. Good stuff.

  7. Denny says:

Paul – I actually sing Pretty Fucked Up.

  8. SuperGurl says:

    That’s no lie!

Oh, you meant the song “Pretty Fucked Up”
of course, how stoopit of me

jk, lovecrip. no one sings worse than i, and i have the footage to prove it!

  9. Paul says:

I assume Denny will be entertaining us with his musicianship at the party. But let me know when it is Supergurl’s turn so I can leave the room and cover me ears.
